Audi has won LeMans 12 times in the last 14 years. While they have faced a few challenges, they have largely dominated the highest level of endurance sports car racing for the better part of a decade. That is an impressive number, in and of itself, but also consider that Porsche has a total of 14 overall wins at LeMans.
2014 marks the year that Porsche returns to Le Circuit de la Sarthe after a 16-year absence. They’ve spent the last 2 years developing their LMP-1 program, and look to make a full-on assault this year at LeMans. Although 16 years is a long time to be away, Porsche know what it takes to win at LeMans, and will likely not leave anything to chance.
Given that a Giant at LeMans is returning, Audi, the reigning champion apparently felt compelled to welcome Porsche back with a video. We won’t spoil it for you, but something tells us they are trying to make sure Porsche knows who is boss.
We look forward to Porsche’s response, and as always, tell us what you think!
